One of the most exciting additions is the new Great Tides Waterpark opening later this summer. What makes this waterpark such a standout experience for families and multigenerational travelers?
Great Tides Waterpark, opening September 4, 2026, was designed specifically with families in mind and will feature attractions that appeal to a range of ages so everyone in the family can join in on the fun. With 19 waterslides overall, the waterpark will debut Tidal Tower, boasting eight of our most adrenaline-inducing thrill slides designed with a shorter height requirement to accommodate more guests. The waterpark will also feature Cliffside Cove with the industry’s first 10- and 15-foot cliff jumps as well as The Great Slide, the Caribbean’s only body slide where four guests can slide down simultaneously. Another exciting innovation, the Wandering River, takes the concept of a lazy river to the next level with accelerated speeds and a multimedia tunnel. What makes Great Tides Waterpark special is how it brings the whole family together — kids can burn off energy while parents and grandparents enjoy watching, joining in or relaxing nearby in a private cabana. It’s active, immersive and perfectly complements a day on the island
Beyond big thrills, how does Great Tides Waterpark ensure there’s something for every age and comfort level, from little ones to adults looking for laid-back fun?
We were very intentional about creating a waterpark that feels inclusive rather than overwhelming. Splash Cay, an over 9,000-square-foot splash zone, was created for our younger guests, with interactive water features, smaller slides and a giant tipping bucket that parents can enjoy with their little ones. Just as important, we built space to step back, relax and recharge, with plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas as well as dining options and bars, including the swim-up Floataway Bar attached to the Wandering River and the hidden cave Grotto Bar in Cliffside Cove. Families can choose to enjoy the attractions together or use these relaxed spaces to split up and reunite easily throughout the day.
Customization is a big theme for today’s travelers. How do these island enhancements — especially
the waterpark — support guests in designing the kind of beach day they personally want?
Today’s guests value choice. With the enhancements at Great Stirrup Cay, guests are not locked into a single version of a beach day. While there is fun for all ages inside Great Tides Waterpark, there is also so much to do for those who want to spend their time differently. Guests who want an elevated experience can book a villa or an oceanview massage at Silver Cove — the exclusive beachfront enclave featuring an elevated private pool, lagoon and restaurant — or opt for some quiet, relaxing time on the white-sand beaches of the adults-only Vibe Shore Club. For pool-goers, the expansive Great Life Lagoon spans two swim-up bars with one end dedicated to a more adult crowd and the other dedicated to families, conveniently nearby Splash Harbor, the complimentary splash zone. At Great Stirrup Cay, guests are not limited. They can start with a fun filled morning at the waterpark, followed by lunch by the beach and end the day unwinding in a quieter space. The island provides options to suit every mood, group, and definition of fun.
