After two years of dedicated effort, A&K obtained a permit to open the previously closed-to-the-public Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary to its guests. This species descends from prehistoric woolly rhinos. Their distinguishing features include reddish locks, song-like vocalizations, and a cuddly face. This exclusive chance to observe the critically endangered Sumatran Rhino, with only an estimated 30-60 rhinos remaining in the wild, will touch your heart. Enjoy the privilege of learning from our resident veterinarian, who oversees the daily care of the rhinos. Accompany her during the routine health check-ups, gaining insights into the conservation efforts and medical care involved in preserving this species. Given the remote location of Way Kambas National Park, situated four hours from Lampung, A&K will arrange a fleet of helicopters for a two-day period, transported from Jakarta, and construct a helipad on the park’s outskirts to facilitate seamless access.
